We knew it was coming, we really did. The warning signs were all there, then the leg break halted the progress for awhile. It finally happened, last night Amelea climbed out of the crib. Ava helped show her how to do it a few times by climbing in and out to play with her, and that's all the encouragement she needed to escape crib-confinement.
We had just walked in the door from a night out on the town (At TGIFriday's) with Derek and Angie Johnson and see Ami coming around the corner, saying "Hi". I picked her up to take her back to her bed, thinking that the babysitter must not have put her to bed in the crib. I do the whole snuggle, lullaby, lay down with silky blankie in the crib routine again, get Ava back in bed, too....turn to leave and Amelea is half way shimmied down the side of the crib again. It took an hour of, "Ami, get back in bed" before she finally fell asleep in Ava's bed. Ava made us promise to put her back in the crib after Ami fell asleep. They were so cute snuggled up last night!
So, tonight, Mitch took the side off the crib and now it's a daybed; we'll have to see how many times we tell her to go get back in bed. So far, she's just wandering around in the room, reading books and keeping Ava from falling asleep.
The hard part is, she'd fall right to sleep if we shut the door and had the lights out, but Ava must have the door cracked with light coming in from the hall. Thus, our conundrum of whose needs are more pressing. Light or no light? Time will tell.

I remember when my boys would sleep together after the crib was just too small. We got them bunk beds and they sleep great now.
Those pictures are so cute! How fun that they are such good friends.
We have the same problem with sleeping arrangements. One is light off, light on, door open, door shut, it is such a mess in my brain when it's bedtime. Sophia keep Savannah awake. When Eliza gets older it will be interesting to see what happens with her and Camilla. Congrats on a night out. I don't know what those are, well, that's not entirely true, we go out during the day on Dale's day off. My kids are so hard to put to be that I hate having a sitter do it. I totally love that Ava showed Ami what to do. What a good big sister.
